Another Lesson in Propaganda, Lies and Sleaze From The New York Times

The New York Times, always finding ways to slur and cast doubts about our military forces has produced another splendid propaganda piece. That is the only mission of the Old Gray Lady. We learn that our brave military people have been trained to be mean-streets killers and because of stress and other reasons they turn into crazed murderers.

The article Across America, Deadly Echoes of Foreign Battles [1] was written by DEBORAH SONTAG and LIZETTE ALVAREZ and is the first in a ‘series’ entitled War Torn Part 1: A series of articles and multimedia about veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who have committed killings, or been charged with them, after coming home.

Several of the blogs have challenged the facts and calculations proffered in this political screed such as John of Power Line.[2] There are several others [3]Sontag is well known for her long-winded maudlin whines and personality molestation screeds and has little standing in matters of fact.[4] We can usually sort the content of any NYT article according to political filters  and transliterate the words back  to radical liberalism or the eternal reverence for Marxism.

John shows that the time scale was chosen as a political matter for Sontag to make her false point [underlining is mine]:

Do the math: the 121 alleged instances of homicide identified by the Times, out of a population of 700,000, works out to a rate of 17 per 100,000--quite a bit lower than the overall national rate of around 27.”

Then:

But wait! The national rate of 27 homicides per 100,000 is an annual rate, whereas the Times' 121 alleged crimes were committed over a period of six years.”

Dividing by 6 we get a very low number: 20, which is below average.

The Times has selectively skewed the numbers in a typical and classic manner to attack our veterans, as usual. Some of us were in buses that were rocked at the San Diego Naval Station in 1967 by smelly drug-crazed hippies and Marxist droolers who waved North Vietnamese flags and gave me the finger. There were more of these perverts trolling for the sexual favors of sailors in San Franciscostarting in the spring of 1965. San Fran was a flesh grinder in those days where runaways flocked to the East Bay Station with the customary denim duffle bags and starry eyes to be greeted by pimps to begin their training as prostitutes and drug-dependent criminals. Many of those who did not die of an overdose are well-trained leftist cadres.

We could ask if the Times might ponder some data such as how many murders there are per square block in the Strawberry Mansiondistrict of Philadelphia or between E 27th and E 20th streets in Oakland around Highland Hospital. Anybody can select a group for political reasons to point out some squalid attribute and use the result to condemn their political enemies.  So, there is the story ofNew Orleans before the Flood,  or as another example Philly or  NewarkNew Jersey.  [5] [6]

Newark is a city of 278,551 people with 81 murders, 85 faceable rapes, 1304 robberies, 1261 aggravated assaults, 2281 burglaries, 5562 thefts, 6018 stolen cars and 238 cases of arson. This, to date, sums to 2731 violent crimes and 13,861 property crimes. Quite a place and 3.8 times the national average for murder and 3.6 times the national average for car theft.  For comparison, Philadelphia had 406 murders for 2006. Philadelphia’s population from the 2000 census is 1,517,550 so the normalized murder rate for Newark, compared to Philly is 18% of that city’s population and runs an astonishing 75% of the Murder Capital of the United States to date. “[7]

This documented result can be compared to the soldiers discussed in this phony article by Sontag.

Here, we read a clear refutation of the War Torn article facts supplied by John and others, who can make some simple calculations and expose the Times for what it really is: A propaganda Rag.

This is not exactly news, but does serve to show that such Pinch Pustules [8] [9] as this ‘series’ are just raw, gutter-grade propaganda and typical of the New York Times, the Walter Duranty Paper.

The facts will not persuade the NYT from continuing to troll the latrines for ugly stories to tell about the Nazis who murder children in the Middle East.

We have heard all this before.

Prediction: the NYT will not retract this ‘article’ and will continue on with the series.

But, notice something important here: the article is politically correct. It shows that training a soldier in the United States is an evil act and that we should abandon our War on Terrorism.  We are the terrorists and we create monsters.  Hamas and Hizbollah [10]their terrorist friends are freedom fighters. The Times is practicing Hezboadulation (or Hizboadulation) as usual.[11] They celebrate all who can attack the US or capitalism.

The lies must be ignored here  by the dedicated as an insignificance  ingredient of the  general propaganda process as the article pumps out the leftist message. This will not change. This is leftist politics at its very best.
